Back Seat Driver

A few weeks ago you may have spotted this little gem here (and the promise of a future post). Never one to break a promise here's the story...

I try to visit my local thrift shops regularly - including Value Village where I always start by perusing the collectibles and kitchen nick-naks, then move to the scarf and fabric section, the very sparse furniture department (sadly it often leaves much to be desired), and finally the art and books by the checkout.

About a month ago, during a seemingly unproductive visit, I round the corner into the furniture section and spotted a leggy gal from across the room... I wanted to stake a claim as soon as possible* but didn't have a shopping cart with me (I`m more stealth without one) so I had to walk/run to the carts, grab one, and hope no one would pick up my gal while I was away.

*Last Christmas I found some great picture frames on clearance. I decided to come back after looking around the store only to see someone pick them up 15 minutes later. To make matters worse I had to stand in line for the till behind them and have my big huge mistake rubbed in my face for 10 minutes...

Luckily no one else seemed even remotely interested in my fab find - they obviously couldn't see her potential. I loaded her into my cart, paid that cashier, and had her safely in the back of my little car within about 15 minutes... and this is where she stayed for the last month.

Yes, I am not proud of it, I have been driving around for a month with my gem of a table in the backseat. I have a million excuses for why I haven't taken her out yet but really I just haven't had time to make it a priority.

Although she only (finally) made it into the garage this weekend, driving around with her for a month has given me lots of time to think about what I might do to give her new life. I'm thinking of painting her in a bright colour (kelly green, cherry red, mustard yellow...) and picking up some really pretty (and hopefully sparkly) knobs too!

Some spectacular options from Anthropologie.

The more affordable options from Home Depot.

I'll keep you posted on my progress - I am waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can get spray paint crazy!

Enjoy!
Calli
